eGroupware application structure

Hello,

I’m new to egroupware. Where can I find some description of the application structure, especially the structure of the database?

I’ve seen the documentation and the application development guide, but it doesn’t really help. Maybe I missed something?

For example, I’d like to add a new user in phpmyadmin… how?

And I think there are differences between an Postgres and MySQL installation.

There are NO differences in the structure of the database between MySQL
and Postgres.

All schemata are public and stored in $app/setup/tables_current.inc.php.
Some (newer) applications have comments in the schema, to explain the
columns. Foreign keys are almost allways recognisable on identical
column names (eg. cat_id --> egw_categories.cat_id).

Sure, PHP needs the table structure, so this is public

Regarding MySQL and Postgres
Maybe I have compared two different versions of eGroupware

there is no such database relationship model

• relations are usually manifested via table name and naming convention
• we do not use foreign keys
  so table relations are pretty much defined and implemented by the bo and so
  classes of an application.
  There are a few tables used by all apps via phpgwapi/preferences and are
  mostly related to user management, rights management (including ACL),
  preferences, and categories.
  Some tables play a part with sync, …
  but as said earlier no database relationship model exists as a written
  document.

  Well, as Ralf mentioned there are relations (e.g. catId), but there is no cascading deletion I believe.

there are relations, but not fixated within the database model.
its all application logic, If you delete something and want it clean, you
must take care of it on your own, within your own application.
Some stuff is handeled by phpgwapi classes, a lot is done via hooks, but
still all application logic and implementation.
