eGroupware + Funambol + Blackberry = Status? (testdrive inside)

Hi there,

this is my first post here and although searching the forums for the topic I only found quite old messages, so I though I bring up this topic again.

I installed EBox 1.4 and the eGroupware version that is included with that release and started to play with it.

I found a funambol add-on for Thunderbird2 and a funambol app for my Blackberry to sync over SyncML with eGroupware. Here are the results:

Setting the correct folder name as described in http://www.egroupware.org/index.php?page_name=sync&wikipage=SyncMLFunambol , which is “./sifcontacts” syncing my contacts from TB and Blackberry work…

BUT: there is something wrong with the sync from TB to eGW, as the email addresses are not transmitted. When I change the email details in eGW and sync, then the addresses appear in TB as well.
After the sync from eGW to Blackberry the birthday entries disappear from my Blackberry, so this is still quite buggy. I also have lots of duplicated contacts on my phone and in Thunderbird.
After the sync I also see empty entries in my addressbook…

Calendar-sync does not work from Blackberry and I can’t find a Lightning version fitting for TB2, so can’t test it now (TB3 is not supported by funambol)

The bottom line is: the sync is not usable right now, that’s very disappointing in my eyes, because I was hoping to get this done with my setup.

Do you guys have any additional infos, does the sync work for anybody without errors and bugs? If yes, are there any docs describing the right setup? If not, how can I find out whether this is a bug in eGW or Funambol?

Hello Sonar,

I read your according post in the funambol user forum. Use EGroupware 1.6003 as a minimum requirement and the actual funambol clients for your
testing. You should deal with TB3 and in particular with the Lightning extension. A release of Lightning is expected. Use for your funambol setup vard
and ./contacts, vcalendar and ./calendar

thanks for your reply. I am running 1.6.002 currently, I’ll try to upgrade.

These vcard setups did not work, maybe because of the versions I use.

You should deal with TB3 and in particular with the Lightning extension.

AFAIK TB3 is not supported by the Funambol Mozilla Sync add-on?

My question is: having the right versions will allow me to sync TB and my phone perfectly with eGW?

For example, I am trying to sync contacts. The literature says I should use ./sifcontacts although I have been using scard on a windows mobile client successfully. It seems though that whichever folder name I put in the Blackberry client, it still uses card and that fails. Is it possible to change the EGW folder to card so that it would work?

I have now been able to install the Funambol client 8.7.3
The contacts sync seems to work fine, but nothing else!
The error message that I get is:
Exception(com.funamb​ol.common.pim.xvcale​ndar.TokenMgrError: Lexical error at line 1, column 1. Encountered: “<” (60), after : “”)
Can anyone suggest a fix?
