eGroupWare SyncML Extensions

I extended the SyncML parts of version 1.6.001 to support all my devices. As a result of my changes my server does now

* fully support all synchronization types (normal sync, slow sync, one-way, refresh)
* support SyncML 1.0, 1.1 and 1.2
* support Large Objects (MoreData)
* respect client CTCap properties (MaxSize)
* work smoothly with Synthesis (iPhone & WM) clients
* synchronize Sub-Tasks with capable implementations (e.g. Synthesis  iPhone Contacts+TodoZ)

Anybody interested in these features may use my changes to upgrade his EGW-instance, too.

Yes…but… the new version 1.6001 dont suport the syncml very well. I try it and didn’t works, very logs of debuging. And if i do the same with a syncml client thats all ok.

I’m working with a MySQL addressbook and never tried a LDAP backend. My changes should not affect the underlying backend. If there were problems they are still there.

BTW: I found problems with Funambol clients in my first patch. The new one should work with these clients again.

Yes, I put a few debugging messages in my code. You can lower the log-level to get rid of them. If you notice problems, that appear with my patch I would be interested in traces (tcpdump) and excepts of you server logfile.

Hi !

I try with a BlackBerry + funambol and “syncje” (nexthaus), but it does not work correct.

egroupware 1.6 sync with both syncml-client (funambol and nexthaus), but

• funambol does not sync all entries every time (and is only able to sync calendar + contacts, missing the tasks)
• funambol gives the message “Failed - No error message” from time to time (very often)
• nexthaus (syncje) works at first (calendar, contacts,tasks), but after a few syncs I found double (and more) entries again and again
• nexthaus often stop without an error message

After installing your patch the errors are still the same, the double entries, too.

I you are interested in debugging this, can you tell me which log you want to see ?

I patched my eGroupware trunk installation with your changes, and gave the sync a try with a number of versions of funambol (6.5 beta, 7.0.8 & 7.1.11) on Windows Mobile.

Apart from a few issues with the upgrade of the funambol plugin, it is working great.
Before the patch, I couldn’t go beyond the 6.5 beta, as with the new versions there were issues related to SyncML 1.2.

I will also do a test later today with a Sony-Ericson phone (using the integrated SyncML 1.2 client) and report back here.

Btw, I finally found some time to test with the SE K320i (using the builtin SyncML client). It worked right away… My boy is now a happy syncer

On the other hand, I found a couple of little quirks in one of the patched files.
The following errors occur in the async task that sends out calendar notifications by email.

I checked the file, and it seems as if you dropped (by error ???) a default value for the first parameter of setSupportedFields() on line 1154.
The error about the missing Horde class is due to a logMessage() call that you included. I guess the required php class is not loaded for all execution paths.
I tried the obvious, and re-added the default parameter value and commented out the logMessage() call. But this creates another chain of issues.
I will take more time to check this further…

I don’t get it, sorry. Did you apply my patch? If you did, remember to allow you users to use syncml. My current patch does “upgrade” the syncml parts to become a full EGW application. It shows up in the ACLs and provides settings underneath “Preferences”. You have to upgrade the syncml application via “Setup” and reload the application hooks, though. Instructions can be found on my website.

I checked and you are right! So I updated the patch and fixes this issue. For the upgrade from 2009-03-13 to 2009-03-13-1 you need only to exchange the patches, no upgrade of the application.

thanks for the patch-update. I installed the latest patch and now the sync with funambol and my HTC windows mobile runs like a charm.

Also I have no more problems to sync my thunderbird addressbook using the sogo connector (i know this should work wihtout the patch but for me it didnt until I applied the patch…)
