After a session with with Ludovic Marcotte from Inverse:
eGroupware Trunk works now well with Thunderbird addressbook using the
new SOGo connector 0.9pre14 (a TB add-on):

You have to use eGroupware’s GroupDAV url with your regular user/pw:
http://domain.com/egroupware/groupdav.php/addressbook/
The sync is working two way: you can make changes, add new contacts or
delete existing ones from eGW or TB.
If you want to test with rc1, you have to update the following file:
