Hi Thomas,
Thanks for your response
*How many clients
we are 25. But if we validate the solution, we view to deploy the product to our customers. Some compagnies are more than 150 clients.
*Outlook connection? Kontact, Evolution?
Essentially Outlook, Thunderbird and PDA
*What kind of work processes shall be supported?
The calendar, the contact list and the infolog features are importants. Other ones are wellcomed
*Other Software you run
Nothing special except Microsoft Office or OpenOffice
I tested 7 or 8 groupwares, certainly not all of avalaible groupwares. For exemple, I didn’t know about Scalix.
To sort them, first of all, I readed user’s feedback, then I installed them to make features test.
It’s true, OX was the longest to install, but feedbacks are good, that’s why I went to the end of the installation.
Why do you say “for real productive use you still have to buy the commercial tools.” ?
I can tell you what I like or not in both product (you will see, I have a little preference :-)):
- user’s feedback tells that it supports connections to 200 clients (simultaneously or registred?)
- Lot of connectors are available
- It’s long to install
- Most of connectors are not free
- The community is not very dynamic around the product, I thing people are waiting that the compagny make everything
- Look & Feel is very good
- There are a lot of features
- Lot of connectors are available and most of them are free
- The community looks like very dynamic
- user’s feedback tells that it supports connections to 50 clients (simultaneously or registred?)
- The documentation is a little bit poor - for exemple, i didnt’t found how to connect a PDA (except the little text telling it’s possible)
In fact, the major argument is the number of simultanous connexions…
About to evolve the product for our needs, there is no importance to use Java or PHP, I know both languages…
I hope it guives you all needed informations to help me to make a choice…
Thanks
Pierre
