Hi David,
sorry to hear about all your trouble with 14.x.
Ralf, Nathan, all,
I have tried for months now to get comfortable with the new gui overlay
interfaces, pixelegg and stylite instead of idots. They just do not work from a
linux client and firefox. I don’t know what OS and browser everybody else is
We recommend Chrome and Firefox in that order for all OS. Chrome is
preferred over FF because it’s still a lot quicker.
Safari also works. With IE we have lots of problems, which we have not
been able to solve, even putting a considerable effort into it.
using, but for me that setup is unusable and slow. The problem is I cannot get
rid of the gui overlay, even when I switch back to idots. I know you say idots
will go away, but right now, that is the only 1/2 way usable interface for me.
The problem with the gui overlay (aside from being horribly slow) is I can’t
I take with GUI overlay you mean that apps are shown in tabs.
For me that is not slower then idots and changing between tabs is
considerable faster, if they are already loaded.
see 1/2 the information that was available in the table interface. There are
stray blank lines in just about everything which limits the information shown to
roughly 1/2 what was available in 1.8. The text wrapping in address book seems
to always wrap the suite number to its own line. More important, the font
interpretation by the browser seems to differ for every computer which changes
how everything is shown. The tables interface never had this problem.
Hmm, can you post a screenshot.
I’m at my wits end. I have used egw for a decade and now am in a position
where I really can’t use it with the new changes in 14.x. Is there any way
possible I can disable the gui interface and just go back to the tables and
idots like 1.8? I don’t mind if I have to strip it out manually each time I ‘svn
up *’, but I have to find a way to make egw usable again.
I still think there’s something wrong in your installation!
The quickest way to deal with that is, you invest in 2h support and show
the issue via screen sharing to our support.
If somebody can point me in the right direction and suggest where to start,
I’ll try and figure out how to get the tables interface working again. I
appreciate all your great work, but I can’t make the gui work and just want to
find a way to get the table interface back. What would be the best way to try
and do this?
Ralf
