eGW 14.3 - MAIL - cannot manage to configure (for calendar notifications)

Hello !

I try to send request from calendar to participants, but it is not
anymore possible after switching from 1.8 -> 14.3

I launched the mail app, which open a wizard for configuring a mail account.
I skip IMAP as I just want to configure SMTP.
The first annoying thing that when I set port to “NonSecuded/587”, it is
automatically set to TLS. I have to apply and then re-set the
"non-secured connexion".
Then I set an identity for this account.
However after saving I still don’t find anything in the database table
’egw_mailaccount’, even if I have a message "account saved’.

If a relaunch the mail app, still nothing appears (see error_log below).

Shall I have to move to svn version in order to a working configuration
process ?

name, aliases, forwards, etc) for mail-servers administrated via EGroupware.

Nothing can happen, as mail app needs and IMAP account, which you skipped.

Shall I have to move to svn version in order to a working
configuration process ?
Mail configuration is working in all released versions.

recorded.

Right. And also because my server is POP :), stuff may freeze if I add
my server information. Conclusion : we shall not use mail app.
But the wizard allows to skip IMAP and only set SMTP parameter, and for
us it is just sufficient and good.
But it appears that if no IMAP config is set, the dialog that popups
when asking to notify an event participants displays an error (“an error
happened account not found (acc_id=null)” ).
We are making more tests to confirm that.
The idea is to allow mail notification with a partial account (SMTP).

Sorry I have to say that I confused the “actions” combobox in the edit
dialog, that used mail app for writing to participants, and the
notifications that are sent automatically on creation/deletion/ect…
Now that I have activated the notifications in the calendar app
preferences, and setup a mail account for admin that is usable by
everyone (with SMTP defined only), the calendar APP sends an email on
task creation.
Ok, no problem.
By the way mail account is difficult to set : for example we use port
587 but security is NONE. We must first set security to none and then
update the port. If we set the security to none port is automaticcally
updated to 25. And before saving after all step completed we return to
SMTP parameters, because the security is resetted to “None”.
We always try to only set most secure options, most providers I know
require STARTTLS with 587.
We still encounter some problem when accepting event received by
Lightning (thunderbird plugin) : if we accept the event our
confirmation is not updated in eGW, but that’s an optional stuff.
Please enable logging to files directory in CalDAV/CardDAV user
preferences and send a log (possibly only showing that).
If there are several mail account defined, how is selected the account
for notifications ? Reading in code shows that there’s a loop for all
accessible account to user. Maybe we could add in app preferences an
account selection ?
We had that preference and noone used used / found it, so we decided
against it.
Morever after many tests we found a account table full of garbage
identities. That would be interesting to add in mail app a view of
this table and allow admin to put some entries to trash.
You can right click an user in admin and select mail account from
context menu. In the popup you can choose which of the users existing
accounts you want to edit (or create a new one).
We plan to fork the github soonly in order to share our changes.

By the way mail account is difficult to set : for example we use port
587 but security is NONE. We must first set security to none and then
update the port. If we set the security to none port is automaticcally
updated to 25. And before saving after all step completed we return to
SMTP parameters, because the security is resetted to “None”.
We always try to only set most secure options, most providers I know
require STARTTLS with 587.
The fact is that is it very annoying to set, because parameters values
are resetted. I’m thinking in adding a checkbox that set/unset the port
’input’ as ‘editable’. When the port no is ‘editable’, don’t use
automatic port selection.

We still encounter some problem when accepting event received by
Lightning (thunderbird plugin) : if we accept the event our
confirmation is not updated in eGW, but that’s an optional stuff.
Please enable logging to files directory in CalDAV/CardDAV user
preferences and send a log (possibly only showing that).
Well I did not find theses preferences :|, I enable app ACL for admin
user, but can’t find groupdav app, nor find groupdav preferences in
calendar app. Where is it ?

If there are several mail account defined, how is selected the account
for notifications ? Reading in code shows that there’s a loop for all
accessible account to user. Maybe we could add in app preferences an
account selection ?
We had that preference and noone used used / found it, so we decided
against it.

Morever after many tests we found a account table full of garbage
identities. That would be interesting to add in mail app a view of
this table and allow admin to put some entries to trash.
You can right click an user in admin and select mail account from
context menu. In the popup you can choose which of the users existing
accounts you want to edit (or create a new one).
OK. That’s right, there a delete button in the dialog.

We plan to fork the github soonly in order to share our changes.

Need to check that, or you send a pull request implementing it …

On top of template there is a button [Preferences], it opens a popup
with preferences of all apps.
In app selection you choose “CalDAV, CardDAV and GroupDAV server” (14.2)
or “CalDAV / CardDAV Sync” (16.1).
Go to tab “Logging / debugging” and select in “Enable logging” “Requests
and full responses to files directory”.

Revisit these preferences again, after your client made some requests
and choose in “Show log of following device” your client by it’s
user-agent string.
