Hi everyone,
I want to install eGroupware on a small NAS (Synology DS-107+). Before
I try it though, I wanted to know if eGW is the thing I need/want.
I want to be able to sync my contacts (Names, Numbers, eMailadresses),
my Dates (Date with some kind of extra info, minimum header) and maybe
my Todos (just a list)
between my Computer using THunderbird with Sunbird/Lightning and my Nokia E66.
Can eGW do this without me having to spend a week configuring my PC,
the NAS and the cellphone? Would eGW be able to run of a NAS, without
it being unresponsive?
Well I can confirm that eGW works well with Nokia E series phones. I
have a Nokia E71 and it worked straight away “out of the box” with
eGW, no hassles at all.
Chris,
That sounds great! I will start working on it once I get the new cellphone.
Did it work “automagically” or was there at least some configuration
needed? Do you have any pointer to documentation, specific to the
Nokia cellphones?
There really is very little to do. I installed eGroupware (in my case
the 1.6pre1 version, which seems pretty stable) on my Linux box
without any great problems.
There’s a syncml HowTo at:-
http://www.egroupware.org/index.php?page_name=wiki&wikipage=SyncMLInstallHowTo
That tells you most of what you need to know, the only thing I had to
do (that isn’t mentioned there specifically) was to add the following
to my apache configuration file:-
#
#
# Addition required for egroupware syncml
#
<Location /egroupware/rpc.php>
php_value mbstring.func_overload 0
Order allow,deny
Allow from all
</Location>
I then just told my E71 to synchronise with eGroupware (I used syncml
version 1.2) and it did.
