eGW SyncML Extensions Patch with SE phone P1i

Hi,

I’ve started using the SyncML Extension to synchronize my Sony-Ericsson
P1i tasks and calendar events (caltasks) with our eGW installation
(1.6.002). This patch is needed because the phone talks SyncML 1.2 but
eGW supports only 1.1 out of the box.

Overall it seems to work quite good, but I’m facing the following
issues:

1. Calendar events are sometimes duplicated in eGW, but appear only
   once in the phone. I’m not sure what causes this.

2. Tasks priorities: Urgent (eGW) is mapped to 1 (phone), high, normal
   and low are all mapped to 3. I would suggest:

urgent and high 1
normal 2
low 3

high = 2 would also be ok

3. I would like to have an option to exclude done tasks. I want to keep
   them in eGW for archiving purposes but prefer not to have them on the
   phone to avoid slowing down the phone.

4. I deleted some tasks on the phone but they where not deleted in eGW
   but instead reappeared on the phone after sync. Then I deleted them in
   eGW and did another sync. Now they are gone. Does this mean deleting is
   only possible on the server?

5. eGW settings: ‘Categories for Conflict Duplicates’ can’t be selected,
   there are none in the dropdown list (only ‘Vorgabe benutzen’).

6. I tried to synchronize notes as well, but this does not work at all.
   The phone says ‘Unbekannter Fehler’ (Unknown error).

7. Is there a log somewhere which would allow me to see what is going on?

To avoid additional problems caused by conflicts I do all changes only
on the phone at the moment.

I did not try to synchronize contacts / addressbook.

I found another problem: When adding a description on the handy,
eGW is updated, but the entry on the phone gets deleted. After a second
sync the entry is back (with the new description) but the reminder is lost.

   You can/should enable logging. Therefore you have to edit the file
   phpgwapi/inc/horde/config/conf.php and set $conf[‘log’][‘enabled’] = true;
   With this settings the SyncML sessions are logged to the server’s error-log.
   You should be able to see the content (vCalendar and vCard data), too.
   Please check, whether the P1i differentiates e.g. the task priorities.
   You should also get a clue what causes the other effects.
   If you need help understanding the logs, you may share them with me.

   You need to create the Categories first.

I did. All categories I’m using are global ones, therefore I created an
additional Infolog category in case the global ones are ignored. But
this didn’t help either.

   You can/should enable logging. Therefore you have to edit the file

This is the info I was looking for, thanks!

With this settings the SyncML sessions are logged to the server’s error-log.
You should be able to see the content (vCalendar and vCard data), too.
Please check, whether the P1i differentiates e.g. the task priorities.
You should also get a clue what causes the other effects.

I added the InfoLog filters as criteria for SyncML exports within the
preferences today. It is available in the 1.6 branch and the trunk version
from the eGW SNV.

There was a typo but it did not affect my instance. I hope it works for you
now, too.
