EGW + Thunderbird + Funambol 0.4

Hi,

has anybody try to sync contact from thunderbird + funambol 0.4 with egroupware. I try it. Everything works well but emails from thunderbird address book doesnt sync to egw.

I’ve tried a long time ago, but this plugin is broken for linux os since
the last version.
At this time, I have fixed addressbook problems by modification of
class.vcaladressbook file (changing defaultfield).

It seems that device spec don’t work. So, if you want it to work, just
go to vcaladdressbook.php in /addressbook/inc/ and specify the
defaultfield in “other” to 6

Hi i tried to change default to group 6. But the problem is the same. No sync email address from thunderbird to egw

doesn’t work. Actually, I sync from Thunderbird to EGW does not work at all, from EGW to Thunderbird works fine. Any solution available?

I would like to see a solution too.

I have also tested the Funambol Outlook connector with eGroupware and it seams to work fine. This leaves me with the conclusion that the TB plugin is bad.

If I knew more about software I wold look at the code for both and compare.

Try the Thunderbird Add-on “Inverse SOGo Connector” version 0.61
This will let you sync the address book.

A newer version is offered at their website and it did not work but I found some references where 0.61 was working and the issue with Thunderbird would be resolved - so maybe the latest will work, if not 0.61 will work until a newer version is released.

You will need EGW latest version for DAV support, check and see if you have groupdav.php in the icalsrv directory.

OK I gave 0.62 a try and I could not get logged in. Just kept asking for a user name and password. I am using mail authentication on eGroupware running on a web host so I cannot see the server logs.

Any ideas here?

OK, I have some feedback from the plugin author!

Unfortunately the plugin does not support the “sif” format only the “vcard” format.

Can we configure eGroupware to work with the “vcard” format?

If not is it a big job to add “vcard” support?

Sorry, I guess I wasn’t clear - any version after 0.61 will not work.
The current version of SOGo connector is 0.67
Presumably a new version will be released that will work.

Just that the next don’t need the time that I spent to find the 0.61 version of the connector as there is no link on the company side that shows older version even if they are there:

Yes I have the groupdav.php in the icalsrv directory and tried 0.61. I can’t get logged in. The log in dialog box just keeps coming back up. The log has the error: “You either pressed Cancel instead of providing user and password or the server responded 401 for another reason”.

The eGroupware server is using “email” for authentication.

Anyone have any ideas?

I just got it working using the 0.61 plugin.
Sadly I had been beating my head against the wall trying this with the 0.67
and 0.66 plugins. Now I can sync calendars and addressbooks with
Thunderbird/Lightning.

Did you enable icalsrv for each user/group that you want it on for?

Are you using “mail” as your authentication type?

Do you have any other plugins in TB? I am thinking another plugin might be the problem.

The mbstring.func_overload = 7 is needed to fully support unicode (utf-8) or other multibyte-charsets.
*** Please make the following change in your php.ini (/xxx/local/config/httpd/php5): mbstring.func_overload = 7
*** AND reload your webserver, so the above changes take effect !!!

Could this cause the problem?

I am currently updating to 1.4.004 from 1.4.003. I’ll post back with an update.

That could be causing problems, maybe corrupting the auth, but I am leaning
toward the files being in the root of the webserver causing the problem. You
would have to check very carefully that all the paths are set correctly in the
config file, and hope that there wasn’t any overlooked hard coded relative
paths in any of the files.
