Alarm messages that are set in the calendar are being sent over and over again. I’m currently getting hundreds of e-mails from one alarm… how do i correct this ?!

Ok, after removing the calendar item the mail stopped, but i did receive over 300 alarm messages (every 5min. or so). I presume this is not the correct behavior.
I can’t find any relevant forum posts so any input is appreciated.
