Your MySQL variable max_connections is set too low? Try mysql> SHOW VARIABLES LIKE “%connections%”; and check for some degree of sanity.
Edit your my.cnf to bump up the number to something suitable if it is indeed too low. Also try persistent connections for better efficiency.
