Error on installing 20180130

I downloaded the latest release and installed it during a routine system upgrade of Ubuntu 16.04 LTS
During the install I got this error several times.

/bin/chown: cannot access ‘/var/lib/egroupware/*/files/sqlfs’: No such file or directory

Not sure what it means. Thought I’d post it so you would know.

I checked my install and there is a file /var/lib/egroupware/files/sqlfs
It seems the /var/lib/egroupware/*/files/sqlfs should find it.

/var/lib/egroupware/files# ls -ld sqlfs
drwx------ 6 www-data www-data 4096 Nov 4 2015 sqlfs

Here are the contents of that directory

/var/lib/egroupware/files/sqlfs# ls -ld *
drwx------ 2 www-data www-data 4096 May 4 2011 00
drwx------ 2 www-data www-data 4096 Sep 19 2016 01
drwx------ 2 www-data www-data 4096 Sep 19 2016 02
drwx------ 2 www-data www-data 4096 Aug 17 10:34 03

You have a non-standard installation, regular installations have an other directory for each instance:
/var/lib/egroupware/default/files/sqlfs
And other instances then using
/var/lib/egroupware//files/sqlfs

Anyway it is only an error from the chmod and can be safely ignored.

In previous package we used: chown -R www-data /var/lib/egroupware
Which caused problem with some customers having huge nfs filesystems mounted into it, to make them accessible in EGroupware filemanager.

I believe my current installation started back in version 1.2 and has been successively upgraded, so it’s not surprising there is some left over stuff.

If understand correctly a current new installation would have both
/var/lib/egroupware/default/files/sqlfs
and
/var/lib/egroupware//files/sqlfs

Are these duplicates or is there a difference in their contents?

Checking further find I do have a directory
/var/lib/egroupware/default
it contains 2 sub-directories
baclup and files but not sqlfs
For future compatibility should I try to create the missing directory and if what goes into it?

You need to check what your EGroupware uses in Setup (upper login) >> Configuration.

If both files and backup are in /var/lib/egroupware/(files|backup), then you need to empty your /var/lib/egroupware/default directory, move both there AND change the path in setup.

That is the standard layout used (and explected) by our packages.

Thanks Ralf,

I’ll put that on my todo list. It appears the site is configured to have the files in the /var/lib/egroupware directory not /var/lib/egroupware/default. It seems to be working now so when I can risk some downtime I’ll correct it.
