Et2 widget itempicker

Hi,

for a previously posted intent of having a document merge possibility out of filemanger (the revert way: open file and merge it e.g. with projectmanager item) I had some thoughts of how to pick egroupware application items in a nice way, maybe a bit similar how link widget does … but I want to have it more clearly and with a lot more space for the user for having a good orientation while browsing through the items.

So, here is my proposal (the et2_widget_itempicker is outlined with red):

At the left side will be icons for each Egroupware application. Each app can be disabled by the widget options; in the filemanager example only “calendar” is enabled because the superuser has defined that this file can just be merged with calendar items (see “Merge settings” at the bottom).

On the right, there’s a simple ajax search possibility, down below all items of the application are shown up and can be picked for an action. The action is also an option of the widget. In this case, “Merge item” is the action and will open a file download with the merged file.

It looks really nice.
If no one objects I will start to implement the widget. Maybe it takes
some time for the widget to complete.

One of the biggest problem with eT2 currently, is nice styling of the
widgets.
Yes, I thought of that. And maybe we get one person working on a general
style that looks a bit more up to date than now. Sorry for that … but
we’ve to keep our eyes open what happens around and refering to this my
personal whish is to get rid of the table-in-a-table-in-a-table…
style. Yes, it’s quite stable but it makes modern styling difficult.
Maybe anyone else shares this thought…

Yes, I thought of that. And maybe we get one person working on a general
style that looks a bit more up to date than now. Sorry for that … but

We all, that’s why in et2 hbox and vbox no longer use tables.

Therefore edit dialogs should end with max. a single table.

Widget looks nice to me, I look forward to playing with it.
Have a look in accountSelect widget, it’s internal working might be
similar to what you’ll need.
