Etemplate for 21.1

Hi All,
I am trying to use etemplate for version 21.1 but once installed it is not available I guess due to problems with the PHP version. Is there a version that can be used in 21.1?

Hmm, not sure I understand the request: eTemplate2 is part of EGroupware’s core since a long time. It does not need any extra installation.

The old eTemplate (server-side rendering) has been retired in it’s own repo AND only makes sense for ancient applications not supporting eTemplate2. Mostly very little is necessary to port an application from old eTemplate the current eTemplate2.

It’s definitely my fault but I can’t figure out how to use it as it doesn’t appear among the applications.

No, why should it be, or what are you trying to do?

eTemplate class is part of the API and be just be used:

Hi Ralf,
In old manual that i have recently read I re-traslated the following sentence:
"Using eTemplate, you can also create printable forms for each one. These can have a logo, footer or header that is the same as a regular letterhead."
In the previous version, if I remember correctly, this utility was present.
What with 21.1 version ?

Only difference between old eTemplate and current eTemplate2 are:

old eTemplate app had a visual editor, while eTemplate2 uses any xml editor with the eTemplate2 dtd
old eTemplate app also had an editor for DB schemas

Everything you can program with old eTemplate, you can also do with eTemplate2 plus a lot more!

For printing we use nowadays (Libre) Office based templates, which you can also employ for your own app, by extending the Api\Merge class.

Hi Ralf,
I understand. Do you know if a tutorial is available?. Honestly I think that the previous version was, If I well understand, at a greater level of usability.
Any plan to have in the future the visual editor ?
