Faiing to pass Step 4: SMTP - outgoing mail

The system bounces back with the error message: 15:55:48: Trying STARTTLS connection to localhost:587 …
I am positive that STARTTLS is configured:
(1) Thunderbird email client works fine with same domain, user, STARTTLS and 587
(2) I can telnet to my server using localhost and domain
[root@home etemplate2]# telnet localhost 587

Escape character is ‘^]’.

I tried both ways, manual and wizard; I never get over the SMTP step.

I use the same port, server, etc as on another email client.

I have the same problem

I can not get past step 4 smtp but only for some mail accounts on the same domain

rrrr@domain1.com does not work
ttttt@domain1.com does not work
fffff@domain1.com works
llllll@domain1.com works

the mail server is the same
the domain is the same
the passwords are correct
the configurations are the same

I do not know what to do…://

Hi Wolfgang,

Currently nothing known.

First: check the mail-server-log of your mailserver.

Can you test with SSL/TLS 993?
Your EGw runs on the same server with the mailserver?
What mailserver do you use (Cyrus, dovecot,…)?
All accounts do not work or only certain accounts as with @bono ?
What does the wizard show for an error message?

is this your mailserver? Please check the mailserver-log…

Are username or password with special character?
Can you test with a simple password?

Tested with wizard as shown above? Which message is displayed?

But:
Please open your own topic for your problem. You can then refer to this topic.
Otherwise it’s a mess and we can’t finish a topic.
