(FCKEditor?) In Firefox 19.0.2, no context menu, can't edit tables in Resource description

Hi,
this discussion about FCKEditor in knowledge base, reminded me
of a problem I’m seeing in Resources editor:

if a table has been pasted to the Description rich text window,
(supposedly it was HTML code)
it can’t be removed in whole (but deleted or Ctrl+x, deletes/cuts just content),
can’t be adjusted to move it out/add column/row etc.

Also if no padding was added around a table (e.g. few CRLF’s before and after), then
the caret can’t be placed outside of the table, and any pasted content goes INSIDE
the table.

Also no context (right-click) menu appears when trying to invoke over the table;
(in fact, no context menu in the entire editor of Resources - Description).

Can’t seem to remember if it did show beforehand, and no chance to check
any more.

Resources app version : 1.9.001.

This does help. It provides another instance where the presence, or absence, of

tags causes unexpected fckeditor behavior. The question for egw is 'Where do the

tags get inserted?' and 'What explains why they are inserted sometimes but not others?'

In my kb article problem, I never inserted a table into any of the articles, the
tags were added by egw and/or fckeditor on its own. The behavior I see is that
when the

tags are present in kb articles I CAN re-edit the articles
normally. However when no

tags surround the

tags, then fckeditor
CANNOT re-edit the articles, but just displays a blank edit window. I have
confirmed this behavior in both FF 16 & FF19 and IE 8.

Aha, so seems like FCKEditor problem…
Only in Knowledge Base it reacts to right-click and pops up context menu with
options for tables;
Maybe you need to have knowledge base editor features set to Everything to see this?
-> Home screen -> (top bar menu) Preferences -> Knowledge Base: Preferences
(look through the tabs to find
"Features of the editor?
You can customize how many icons and toolbars the editor shows."
I have it in Forced Preferences set to Everything)

There is no setting like that for any other place FCKEditor is used
(by that I mean Resources Details editor mostly)

I see the setting, but doesn’t that just control how many button toolbars are
shown in the edit window as in this screenshot?

I confirmed, I have the preference set to ‘everything’. My issue in the ‘blank
edit window’ thread is that the existing text is not pulled into the edit window
when you view an article that contains indent

tags not wrapped by
tags. Interesting issue…
