Felamimail and message (IMAP?) flags

Hi all

I have a request from a user, who favors GMail, but would like to know if EGW can support more flags. I do not use GMail, so I am not sure how they are implementing message tagging. From what I have gathered, GMail has built these flags (tags) into the web client, not into their IMAP server.

The request has to do with being able to assign tags related to user specified categories, rather than sorting messages using folders.

I have been trying to get them to explore using infolog for tracking communications, but they have developed a system they are comfortable with, and are reluctant to change.

It sure would be nice if mail services could be standardized…

As you said, IMAP doesn’t support the extra tags, which means that
keeping tags in synch between the GMail web interface and eGroupware
would be ‘entertaining’. Not exactly the best use of time. The only
realistic approach to this might be to create rules to highlight/tag
emails based on the sender? Red highlights for emails from the boss, and
dark brown highlights from the cleaner etc depending on how you viewed
the level of importance?

Effectively the creation of macros/filters within eGroupware felamimail
to provide customised highlighting?

paid customisation? Not something I’d try yet, as I’ve only just got to
grips with coding custom modules as a part of a review of about 5 or 6
options for a customised collaboration project.
