Hello,
Thanks eGW team for such a great product!
We have a serious problem, though. It seems to be impossible to use a different SMTP email server for outgoing messages, rather than the eGW host’s incoming IMAP mail server (courier, here). I’m guessing that Felamimail may be using the eGW username@egw_domain, rather than the username@smtp_domain from the SMTP authentication information in the emailadmin SMTP settings.
When sending out mail to the SMTP server, eGW logs in OK (so it’s using the emailadmin auth settings correctly at this point), but any email to a user at any domain other than the SMTP server’s domain, generates a “SMTP Error: The following recipients failed:” error. This is despite the fact that the Felamimail message “From:” field shows the correct username@smtpdomain address, before sending. Sending email to users with the SMTP mail server’s domain works fine, though.
All other email clients work just fine (Thunderbird, Outlook, etc.) using separate IMAP and SMTP servers, but Felamimail simply can’t handle this. Also, I’ve seen quite a few other folks complain about similar problems, but there has never been a fix provided for this.
Since we don’t have access to the SMTP server access logs, it’s impossible to tell precisely where the problem is, but all other email clients work just fine with this setup (separate domains for the eGW IMAP server and SMTP mail server.
This has been a problem since day one with Felamimail, and can even prevent the deletion of projects, because the email notice that’s sent errors out at the SMTP server with the “SMTP Error: The following recipients failed:” error. If this could be fixed, we could finally put eGW into production.
Thanks for any help!
