Filemanager: Cannot download, blank page

Hello,

I have exhausted google and this forum searching for clues or solutions to this problem.

Default install of EGroupware as packaged by Softaculous on a VPS running CentOS.

I can upload files to the filemanager, but when attempting to download them I get a blank page. If I right click the file link and select download, I get a zero byte file. Here is the exact URL I get that serves the blank page.

The support position seems to be to examine the Apache error logs for PHP errors. All logs are clean, no errors reported, PHP error reporting is turned on and it works, I tested it with another program.

What are the typical errors that cause this? I have gone through the ‘Check Installation’ routine several times and it is coming up clean.

Hi
In Filemanager you can run Check virtual filesystem in the menu. Do you
get any error?

Hi Robert,

Filesystem check reported no problems.

If I strip the URL of the ?sessionid= and beyond, I am presented with a webdav login that delivers the file to me intact.

The sessionid= was the problem.

I went into the Admin and changed ‘Use Cookie for session ID’ to On.

I had turned it off earlier as I was trying to eliminate the session IP checking which kept booting me.

This was interesting and should provide a solution for anyone else who runs into this, ever.

There are a couple of settings concerning sessions and cookies:

Use cookies to pass session ID: “Yes - more secure” (default) or "No"
This setting is removed from Trunk as the less secure option, produces
lots of problems. So everyone can only do themselfs a favor and leave it
on the default “Yes - more secure”.
Cookie path and domain: leave the defaults, unless your really
understand what you are doing!
Check IP address of all sessions …: “Yes - more secure”, "No"
This option controls if a session is considered invalid, when your IP
address changes. If you are eg. behind a load balancing proxy, you have
to switch that off, as otherwise you frequently get the message “your
session could not be verified”

new since 1.8.005:

Use secure cookies (transmitted only via https): "Yes - more secure"
or "No"
This should be left to “yes” unless you have the special situation,
that your SiteMgr site (on a different domain) is NOT accessible via
https, while your EGroupware is.

Hope that explains things a bit.
