Filemanager: WebDAV access not successful

Hi,

I just installed the latest version of egroupware and egw-pear.

I would now like to access my file manager files through webdav from my Ubuntu workstation. I tried to connect using GNOME’s Connect to Server function with the following values:

Service Type: WebDAV (http)
Server: egw.mydomain.info/webdav.php
Port:
Folder: /home/marcus
Username: marcus

When I hit the “Connect” button I am asked for a password to authenticate. However, when I enter my EGW password for the user “marcus”, it seems not to work out, as I am repeatedly asked for the password…

The same is true when I try to connect from Windows XP…

any help appreciated.

Hi.
try to put “filemanager/” before webdav.php

In ubuntu you can try to see in nutilus bar if the whole uri works. It
should be something like
dav://marcus@egw.mydomain.info/filemanager/webdav.php/home/marcus

See if in this way it works.

You can put that uri directly inside nautilus address bar if you like

If you use the correct URL (from 1.6 on it’s just /webdav.php/ after the
regular EGroupware URL), the problem is most likely that you are NOT
using PHP with Apache2 mod_php and the Webserver or (Fast)CGI
implementation you are using requires extra measures for basic
authentication.

So either use mod_php or google for the necessary fixes for the
environment you are using.

Hi,

Thanks, however, using /filemanager in the URL does not change the
behaviour. I am still repeatedly asked for the password!

Do I need to configure any addtional user rights for a specific user to
be able to connect via webdav? or do I need to activate webdav somehow
in EGW?

• or, where could I find log information to track down the problem
  further?

That might be the case as my provider uses Fast-CGI for php.

I will further investigate about that!

Hi,

I rechecked with my provider:

For Basic authentication, they use the standard unix crypt(3) function with a random 32-bit salt (only 12 bits used) and the first 8 characters of the password.

I am still confused what requirements I must meet to get the eGroupware internal WebDAV server working and authenticating properly against its internal user base?

I also found out that using the filemanager command line interface, I run into the very same problem that credentials cannot be authenticated.

However, I would like to understand what I actually did there? Can anyone elaborate a little bit what this work around really does?

Hi,
I am having the same issue with my server. I can’t connect with windows webdav, and if I use a webdav client, it connects but cannot rename files… it gives me a permission denied error…

Also, If I open a file in openoffice, from the drive letter of the egroupware webdav… It allows me to open it once, but if I try to save it, it gives an error that it is locked for editing.

So… I am trying to follow the instructions in the previous post, regarding WorkAroundDAV, and I can’t find the last file to edit…

/phpgwapi/inc/class.egw_digest_auth.inc.php

the above file doesn’t exist on my system… A fresh install of 1.6.003. Any ideas?

A tutorial on how to get webdav properly working would be great, as this is a great feature… If it works.

The last file does not exist on my system either, but it worked by just
editing the other two files!
