Forcing trash folder

Hi everyone,

I have a quick community edition 1.8 question.

In my setup, I want the trash folder in all members of the default group to be .Trash I have the option in Email preferences - forced preferences to select ‘move to trash’ when deleting messages, but under trash folder, I only have two options. These are ‘users choice’ and ‘don’t use trash’. No option to select the trash folder. This option only seems to be available within the individual users preferences.

Is there an option or preference somewhere that I am missing for forcing this function?

Hi guys - does anyone have any ideas on this one? Could it perhaps be a permissions issue to some file within emailadmin or felamimail? If so, then does anyone have any ideas which file I need to grant access to?

Any assistance is appreciated.

Hi Mark,

I am not sure why this doesn’t work in your environment, but on my server, as an admin, I can go to:
Preferences
eMail / Preferences
Forced preferences TAB
Scroll down to "Folder settings"
The first item there is “Trash folder”. I set that to “/Trash”

I think you will need to have an appropriately named folder in your own mailbox to set a name. So, if your admin does not even have a mailbox, it proably won’t work…

Otherwise, this should be working fine.

Hi Andre,

Extremely good advice as usual. You hit the nail on the head straight away! As my default accounts were the only accounts with email addresses - admin accounts did not have email accounts, then that option was not present. As soon as I added my admin account also to the default account, then I could make the forced changes.
