I noticed some Carddav work in the changelog and tried to test the
distribution lists syncing to em Client vie Carddav.
The lists show up in egroupware, creating them on the client, but they
are empty. And existing lists show up at the client, but they are empty
too.
Is there anything I have to configure, more than switching ‘Distribution
lists as groups’ to on?
There’s one important difference between EGroupware distribution lists
and groups in Apple or eM-client:
EGroupware allows distribution lists to contain contacts from all
addressbooks, while groups can only have members from the specific
addressbook they are stored in.
Our CardDAV implementation now limits a distribution list to just the
members which are in same addressbook and updates only concerns these
(members from other addressbooks are kept unchanged in EGroupware).
If your client only supports one addressbook (like eg. OS X addressbook)
you can check “all” and “sync all addressbooks to one” in CalDAV/CardDAV
preferences, which then allows groups to have members from all addressbooks.
The “distribution lists as groups” CardDAV preference only syncs
(PROPFIND or REPORT CarDAV querys) groups to the client. Client can
allways create distribution lists, which will not synced back to client,
if the preference ist not set.
eM-client allows members from other addressbooks incl. it’s local one in
groups and adds them as email addresses, which get completely ignored by
EGroupware, as we cant store these in our current database model.
All of the above can create “funny” effects when using groups in CardDAV.
That should probably go into a CardDAV readme …
