Icalsrv, groupdav and tasks/infolog

Hello,

I am trying to sync egroupware calendar and infolog with Thunderbird/Lightning client. I have egroupware 1.6 with icalsrv installed. I can successfully connect Lightning (Version 0.9) using groupdav, but this only works for the calendar at present. I am unable to connect Lightning using icalsrv.

Will groupdav include syncing tasks/infolog in the future? What time frame?
Can anyone offer a fix for icalsrv for the interim?

Additional info for connecting with icalsrv:

icalsrv is version 1.4. It seems to be installed correctly.
I can point to the icalsrv.php/user_x/list.html and get the expected results in a web browser.
Thunderbird/Lightning asks for username and password, but then reports it can not load the calendar.
Also tried in iCal on a Mac, and received an error message HTTP/1.1 501 Not Implemented

I am going to do a Knowledgebase/wiki page based on these notes

In Lightning
Go to the main Calendar view
Click ‘on the network’
-> Next
Select CalDAV
Location : http://egroup/egroupware/groupdav.php/calendar/
(note trailing /)
-> Next
Give the Calendar a name and colour

GrouDAV
To enable groupdav:
as a user with admin rights:
admin->applications
if groupdav isn’t there then click on setup at the bottom and go to Step 5:
Manage Applications
click on install groupdav and save
go back to user login and then admin->applications
click on “edit” for groupdav and make sure it is ‘Enabled, hidden from taskbar’
(There is no functional page so there’s no point in having it on the taskbar -
if you say ‘Enabled’ then you get an icon and a ‘version’ page)
No go to user accounts or user groups and select a user or group and click 'edit’
This will allow you to tick 'groupdav’
Submit changes

Thanks for your response David. I have groupdav up and running as per your instructions. Calendar events sync no problem, but the tasks/infolog sync does not work. It looks like it is coming, but not there yet. I am trying to decide if I should be patient and wait for the solution with egroupware, or find an alternative.

groupware offers ‘/calendar/’, ‘/addressbook/’ or ‘/infolog/’ interfaces which I
think the client should understand.

Google suggests that Lightning doesn’t seem to recognise DAV tasks…

I only have the Debian 0.8.6 version at the moment.

I have been doing some more testing and searching on this. I have tried Lightning, and iCal I can sync tasks with a Zimbra server from both (Yahoo). But this I believe is caldav. I guess that there is further development required to get this working for the egroupware groupdav/caldav support. On the egroupware roadmap it says “70%(CalDAV? does NOT yet suport tasks, only GroupDAV, CardDAV? needs to allow client to choose resource-name)”

I would love to know how this is progressing!
