When I go to egroupware setup and un-install the notifications application,
I am getting message on other sessions in live system :
Database error
Invalid SQL: SELECT * FROM egw_notificationpopup WHERE account_id=XXX AND session_id=‘xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx’:
Table ‘egroupware.egw_notificationpopup’ doesn’t exist
Which is sort of expected. This message appears the way the notifications do over
Firefox;
I have re-installed notifications (in egroupware setup) again.
(Then I went into Admin and clicked on ‘Find and register all application hooks’,
then had to enable the notifications’ application for relevant user groups again too,
i think that was sort of expected as well)
We’ll see whether this helps.

Now on up to date packages, still no notifications
(client machines all on Windows XP SP3, Firefox >= 10.X (mostly 11.0))
The only thing I found in changelog regarding notifications is
- Notifications: fixed not correctly reset timezone after notifying users from other timezones
in 1.8.004.20120405 (so one update before current)
I am pretty sure notifications did work on 1.8.002.20111111 …
My systems’ TZ is Europe/Dublin and so are my users’.
My users’ time is updated via NTP and has the DST enabled (and so has EGW setting)
(I have fixed a red x in setup next to the timezone description as it demanded
more explicit date.timezone setting in php.ini, set to Europe/Dublin)
Still when I go to user accounts -> [USERNAME:edit] -> Preferences,
timezone is displayed default: Europe/London…?
Something’s funny here.

(I haven’t tried to update from packages yet after the db error
correction, suse download server slow) L.
This was brought up to me by the users.
I still have the 2 modifications that made them work for me
previously, (chmod go+w /var/lib/php5, add /var/lib/php5 to
openbasedir in /etc/apache2/conf.d/egroupware)
but no popups are coming on, neither Windows backend nor in Mozilla
(FF 11.0, and some below that) no mentions in
/var/log/apache2/error.log either.
Also for some reason I can’t log in as ‘administrator’ (not a real
user name) rights holder. (went through setup to set new password,
doesn’t let me in anyway, gives no message on browser)
What can I do to help debug that ?
