Installation errors on pop up windows

Hello:
I have tried a number of the different installation options but have had some issues (Ubuntu 20 server). The current attempt is with the instructions from here: https://github.com/EGroupware/egroupware.

I have a site loaded, finally, and this is the second time I have got to this point, but none of the pop up windows will load (image 1) and if I click on any other button, in this case preferences, I get various mysql errors (image 2).

Any help or guidance much appreciated.

Only allowed 1 image attachment, so error reads:

Invalid SQL: UPDATE egw_access_log SET WHERE
You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MariaDB server version for the right syntax to use near ‘WHERE’ at line 1 (1064)

Apologies in advance if it is obvious and any other details supplied if required.

Now more for you…

How exactly did you install? There are 4 options to choose from on the page.

By the messages (appearance) I mean to see that you have made an installation from the development version (Master)(?).
Is that intentional?

Hi Stephan:
Not really, but all other versions and packages I have had issues with. I did have a working version with docker, but had to remove it as I have a separate docker running collabora for Nextcloud and it was playing up. I could not get rid of all the docker code and trying to reinstall kept coming back that I already had it. Sorry it is a bit vague. I have tried pretty much every install recommendation over the past few days. I’m guessing the development and Ubuntu 20 is not a good pairing? This version at least got me to a working login.

Can I change it via git to a 19.1 or 20 branch?

If you want to have a production system, the developer version is never a good idea.

Thanks both. I changed it to 19 and it didn’t load at all and then to 20 and the same issues. I think the issue is set up related, so I need to start again.

I am using the git repository, 19.1. I have managed to get as far on the setup screen on the page to install the applications (Step 1 of 5). The database is working and all of the settings are OK. However, clicking on the button to install the applications drops me back to the setup and header page. I can’t see any error messages in the various logs. I assume it is a permissions problem as it needs to read a file or directory to continue? Are there any permissions specific to folders needed for install? Most of the permissions are currently root and 644 or 755, with a few www-data. What files does apache need to read to move forward now?

PS I am using the system only to teach students about project management at an FE college.

That does NOT look like a permission problem, more like either the session cookie could not be stored or PHP sessions in general are not working.

Nothing in the main logs to point to these issues. Any pointers?

Mmm, same pop up message as before.

I am using a sub-domain. I will play around with the setup, but this is the same issue I get regardless of install at the moment.

EGroupware does not care about in which domain you install.

That error is specially wired, because 200 OK HTTP status is no error.

You need to look in the webserver error-log. Where that is in your manual git installation case, is something I can not tell.

The main errors appear to be:

Creating default object from empty value in…/apt/src/DB.php on line 510, which further complains of lines 344. 604 abd other errors in loader.php (79) and avator.php (26)
That repeats several times, then:
Database error \API\Db\Exception\InvalidSql which is one of the messages in an earlier post, Invalid SQL: UPDATE egw_access_log SET WHERE
The errors then are in Db/Deprecated.php (64)
Db.php (1830)
Session.php (1307, 1830)
Egw.php (254,299)
Loader.php (83)
json.php (110)
These sets just repeat. The sessions are being saved in tmp and everything else seems fine, so not sure. All other settings are the same as several other LAMP based systems running on the server and these work without issue.
