Installation on a shared server ( lunarpages.com )?

Hey Gang,

This eGW software looks promising. Regrettably, I can’t seem to install it. I’m getting 500 Internal Server errors left and right.

Has anyone had any luck installing this on a Lunarpages shared server?
I have gone through the permissions ( 777 on the setup directory and files ) and have checked the error log. It’s referring to the .htaccess file as a configuration problem. Fine. I deleted the file and I still have 500 Internal Server errors. Is this a root access problem?

Advice would be greatly appreciated. Though I know that there are a lot of installation questions in this forum.

Thanks for the response, Ralf.

I’ve been over the 80+ page document but most of it is about setting up and securing the server. We use a shared server. The only thing I can relate to is possibly removing the .htaccess and header.inc.php files?

Hi Daren,

I think we talk about different documents, I talk about
www.egroupware.org/wiki/ManualSetup which is liked as online help to setup.

Anyway I see you already tried removing the .htaccess file. That’s the
only think I can imagine causing the 500. Maybe you should recheck, it’s
already removed. Anyway a 500 gives you an entry in the apache
error-log, stating what the problem is. If you cant get access to the
error-log, you probably with the wrong hoster for eGW …
