Is it possible to create user via API?

Guten Tag

To cut a long story short (I’ve just deleted the 4 paragraph version). I’d like to be able to create a user in EGroupWare via an API, as I need to create 3 accounts manually on different sites for each new user. It would be great if I could automate this.

Admittedly, one of the accounts is with JetBrains YouTrack, and now that I’ve discovered EGroupWare, I will take a close look at the Tracking System feature, to see how that pans out, and which will be better for the users of the charity I’m developing for (sorry, I always digress from the subject in question).

So, as the question say… is it possible for me to use an API to create users. I’ve done a search for “API” in the forum, and seen the thread with instructions on how to add an entry to the address book, and I’ll do a search of the code around that thread’s answer, and see if that leads anywhere, but I could sure do with a little help.

I’m using the self-hosting option on my normal web-server.

If there’s any information that I’ve not provided that would be helpful, then please let me know, and I’ll do my best to help you help me.

Actually not.
As a rule, you connect EGroupware to a central identity management system in such a case.
That’s why we haven’t had any reason to include such an API so far.
We are working on an API for InfoLog next.

I’m using the self-hosting option on my normal web-server.

Bad idea.
Better use our standard installation via package (on a vPS, baremetal, …).

Thanks very much for the reply.

The API facility doesn’t matter; EGroupware is still much better than any of the other options that I’ve seen, and so it’s worth having to create different accounts. I will look into how I can connect them all (especially the NGOs website) and as I say, I’ll look into the Tracking System instead of JetBrains YouTrack.

I’m hoping your “Bad Idea” part of the reply, is just down to me phrasing it incorrectly.
When I said self-hosted, I actually meant the on-premises installation. It is also installed through the Softaculous app installer. So, I hope that makes it a little clearer as to how it’s installed. I must admit that “self-hosting” does sound quite amateurish now that I read it back to myself.

I was a professional Software Engineer working for Sky Bet here in the UK until I became confined to a single bed in my living room 20+ hours per day. Now I’m just able to work on my back, but I have kept completely up to date with technologies, and so the site including the EGroupware portion is done on a completely professional level. Of course, I know that you were not suggesting anything otherwise, but I just felt the need to defend my skills. (I warned you that I always digressed from the subject).
