Issue with SMTP AUTH

Hi!
I have installed postfix and cyrus on the same machine where egw is
installed (everything works fine so far).
So, I changed the settings of the default profile in emailadmin, on the
SMTP tab I choosed ‘standard smtp server’ and left SMTP Auth disabled
because I don’t want to use it atm.

I am expecting that felamimail will not send an AUTH command with this
setting, but it does. Authentification and sending the email fails,
accordingly.
All other services of egroupware depending on a working smtp setup are
failing, too.

I’m using R29484 svn. I try to append the wireshark logfile to this message.
Does anybody have a similar setup without SMTP AUTH? Can anyone help? Is
this a bug in felamimail or emailadmin?

Hi Sebastian.
R29484 svn for Trunk or 1.6.00x?
Assuming you have the default emaildomain set, and the profile is used, and
SMTPAuth is not true, then your egroupware should not attempt to
authenticate.
Possible reason for still trying to:
The profile is not used/applied.

you may increase debug-information on this by setting the $debug var to 10
in phpgwapi/inc/class.send.inc.php
Output goes to your webServers error log.

Assuming you have the default emaildomain set, and the profile is used, and

The default emaildomain is set, i. e. “(Mail domain (for Virtual mail
manager))” is the same as the default domain of the postfix installation
(in main.cf).

The mail domain is different from the apache server’s domain.

SMTPAuth is not true.

There is another working profile, but it is disabled.
The regarding profile is the only enabled one. All applications and
users are allowed to use it. Egroupware tries to use the configured smtp
server.

Possible reason for still trying to:
The profile is not used/applied.

Just now I remembered that there is an additional domain, the egroupware
domain. Although egw is working fine with IMAP, I have changed the
egroupware domain ‘default’ to the same as the default email domain for
testing - negative, no changes with SMTP.
I wished I could dig into the code.

In short: it works!
I was curious. I deactivated SMTP AUTH in the inactive profiles, not
expecting any change. But sending an email worked for me.
Then I wanted to reproduce the behavior and have set SMTP AUTH to yes
for the inactive profile again… and sending mail worked.

So, it is solved, and it’s not reproducible.
Any questions?
Now I’m on revision 29486 in trunk.
