Users are frequently getting the following error message then they try to save changes to an infolog to-do entry:
Error: the entry has been updated since you opened it for editing!
Copy your changes to the clipboard, reload the entry and merge them.
It is not caused by another user editing, so it must be some automated process. It is very annoying and can occur a number of times in secession on the same project. All the to-dos are linked to a large project.
I suspect it has to do with the history keeping done in projects. I have turned off history for the infolog. The reason I suspect history keeping is that I see a large number of changes to the hour a project is to be started or completed when no one has changed the start or completion time. No one uses the time of day setting, just the date. Most of the time changes indicated in the history are for 1 hour, but occasionally I will see a 2 hour change. It is not related to users editing from different time zones as it will appear for a single user multiple instances, sometimes in the same minute.
I have taken one large 4th level sub-project for a training event and made to a top level project. This has reduced, but not eliminated, the problem.
What can I do to stop the info log error messages? My boss is getting very annoyed as we are counting on the project manager to handle new initiatives we are undertaking.
