Actually, neither one of those was the case. I think the only uncommon
things I am doing are A) using IMAP based authorization, B) have
auto-create turned on for validated users, and C) I have a dedicated
host name for EGW and I am not using a sub-directory. So the link I am
using is just “http://host.domain.com/” and not
"http://host.domain.com/egroupware/", which is the same one I (the
administrator) is using to log in. Also, it appeared as though the
default application was being completely ignored for everybody no matter
what I set it to. Believe me, I tried tweaking settings like that for a
LONG time. EGW was just dumping every user into Admin upon log in no
matter what their default application was or whether or not they were an
administrator.
Notice the past tense, though. The good and somewhat disturbing news is
that I went to bed last night with it broken, and I woke up today with
it fixed. Also, some widgets have been added to everybody’s home screen
without anybody doing anything. Also, I had added a distribution list,
but I was unable to figure out how to add contacts to it, and that
distribution list is now gone. So is there some sort of cron driven
sanity checking and/or repair that happens overnight? Maybe and
automatic update? If not is there some other explanation to what happened?
Also, I can’t for the life of me figure out how to add contacts to a
distribution list. How exactly does one do those things? IT looks like
there should be an option under the “Select an action” drop down. I am
using EGroupware 1.8.004.
Thanks,
James
I did figure out that if I gave non-administrators access the the Admin
application then I did not get that message. Since that really isn’t a
practical option I’m not sure what to do now.
You either gave them a link to admin application, eg.
http://domain.com/egroupware/admin/ or you set admin as default
application (general preferences). Both makes absolutly no sense for
non-admins.

Hello,
I am running a fresh install of EGRoupware 1.8 on Ubuntu 10.04. When an
administrator logs in, everything is fine. When a non-administrator logs
in they get the message “Permission denied! You need to be an eGroupWare
administrator to access this functionality! Click here to resume your
eGroupWare Session.”, and when they click the link they log in normally.
I have been fiddling with settings for a few hours but nothing seems to
make the message go away. Does anybody have any ideas?
