Folks,
Unfortunately I could not get Mail/IMAP authentication to work with EGW
14.1, but I did get it working again on EGW 1.8, so that’s what I’m
going to stick with for now. As bonuses, using EGW 1.8 I also have the
emailadmin, manual, and syncml modules working, and it is not creating a
temporary directory in the root directory of the server. EGW 14.1 is
very nice and I would like to upgrade, but it just doesn’t seem ready
enough for me to use it yet. As far as I could tell 14.1 didn’t even
attempt to connect to the IMAP server to authenticate even though once
logged in the email module worked just fine. I will probably try to
upgrade again in a few weeks when I will hopefully have more time to
play with it. Is anybody successfully using the IMAP authentication with
EGW 14.1?
To recap, I could not get any version of EGW to run on the latest
version of Zentyal, which is a derivative of Ubuntu. It could be that
(I’m sure for excellent reasons) Zentyal uses haproxy to reverse proxy
all network traffic to the machine such that the webserver is not
actually listening on ports 80 or 443. Or it could be that Zentyal has
some other “helpful” security feature which is causing the problem. So
since I really couldn’t undo the server upgrade, I had to move those
instances of EGW to a separate server. I tried to upgrade to 14.1 while
I was at it, and I really liked it, but I couldn’t get IMAP
authentication to work, so I had to revert back to EGW 1.8, which seems
to be working just fine.

Hello Folks,
I have given up trying to get EGW 14 working Zentyal 3.5, so I have
installed it on Ubuntu 14.04. It seems to work fine, but now I can’t get
it to use Mail authentication agains the IMAP server running on the
Zentyal machine. There aren’t any errors in the apache error log, there
doesn’t seem to be any attempts to connect in the mail server logs, and
I have tried all the possible combinations under the “If using Mail
authentication” settings. I have looked in the database, and in the
egw_config table the appropriate items seem to be updating. I have no
idea what to do now in order to troubleshoot, so any help would be
appreciated.
Besides the issue above, I have two related questions about 14.1:
First, I have installed the manual module, but I can’t see where you
actually access it in the system.
Second, in EGW 1.8, there was a place to set a global default for imap
settings. I think it’s the emailadmin module, which appears to be
installed. How do I access that module in the system?
Finally, in EGW 1.8, you could define which groups had access to which
modules. How do I do that in EGW 14?
Thanks in advance!*
