Mail checks in Tracker

Hi all,

Been a while since I’ve been on this list… but I’m still here… and I
run into an issue now.
In the Tracker mailhandling, there used to be a check for mail bounces
and autoreplies (is_automail()), but on my server (running 1.8.002) that
doesn’t work; I got ‘spammed’ by mailer-daemon tickets.
In the SVN trunk I see the check is still there, but in the 1.8 branch
it’s completely missing. The config options are still there though…

What happened with that code?

To be honest: I dont know about the why.
In trunk mailhandling is on its way to be completely different, if for IMAP.

in trunk the is_automail feature was introduced with:
Revision 29642 - (view) (download) (annotate) - [select for diffs]

Implement a check to handle automails (bounces, autoreplies)

It seems it was not backported back then. At least not what I can see it.
1.8 was not done from trunk, but from epl.9.2; and since some of the tracker_mailhandling stuff was not backported from trunk to epl-9.2 back then, and no one missed it, it has gone missing.

Thanks for your answer. Is there something I can do now, or will the
problem be solved automatically for 1.10 (or whatever the next stable
release will be) since the check is in trunk?

Two options here:
-you can fiddle the checks into 1.8. and commit them.
Putting the code in would not be the hard part (everything is there more or less), but the testing.

-you wait for the next major release. One way or the other it will be in there.

I suggest the first option, because it is helping you now.
I guess having a look at r29642 and working that into 1.8
should do the trick, with a little bit of code - knowledge
-> which you have, since you did it in the first place

I already fixed it in my own environments, so it won’t be a problem to
get it back in the 1.8 branch, I’ll take care of that later this week,
