Migration myDMS to FM or LetoDMS?

After the myDMS-modul has been dropt in eGroupware 1.8 I’m looking for a way to migrate the data from the egroupware-myDMS1.6-Modul to a new DMS solution.
As far as I understand one solution is using the FileManager-module from eGroupware 1.8, the other way would be to use LetoDMS(myDMS) as a standalone installation.

I coudn’t find any documentation how to migrate the data from the eGroupware 1.6-MyDMS-Module either in the eGroupware 1.8-FM-Module or to LetoDMS.

Loosing all the data stored in myDMS (Documents, Versions, Comments) would be very bad.

Is there a recomended way to migrate the documents?

Any help would be appreciated.

i have updated from egroupware 1.6 to egroupware 1.8.
and i cannot acces my dms groups, what can i do?

It probably depends on the client fully paying it or not. Other
consideration is, free EGroupware can NOT store the versions, only
latest version - thought that’s not a problem for the conversation
script, it can either store all versions (thought they will get lost in
the community version) or detect if backend understand versioning.

I will also need such a tool.

So far noone wanted it enough, to pay the effort to write such a script.

There seems to be a lot of interest for this migration.
I guess you should announce the prize for this tool, collect responses
from interested clients and divide prize among all.
Last info I have is 2 days effort for this (~1000 EUR?), which, split
between 5 clients, is not such a big amount.
We did it by hand (save all files from MyDMS locally and then upload via
WebDAV to FM), because 1000 EUR is a month salary for guys in my department.

Hello All,
Add me to the list of users that upgraded to 1.8, cannot access MyDMS, and have not found any documentation on how to properly migrate.

Reading the threads on this topic, it is quite obvious that EGroupware left us out in the cold tundra, unless we cough up some dough. What I don’t understand is why did EGroupware drop MyDMS without any consideration for the users that use MyDMS? At a minimum, the developers should have thought about the consequences and an alternative to MyDMS.

Hopefully, the developers will realize that we, the users, would like to continue using EGroupware, but if this is an indication of future upgrades, then I predict EGroupware will fall by the wayside soon.

Here! Here! I also feel we users were slighted
I am NOT upgrading since I use MyDMS and am patiently waiting for FileManager
to be enhanced enough to maybe take it’s place.

I, too, feel it was extremely short-sighted to remove a highly used feature like MyDMS. I, also, will probably manually copy all of my files into File Manager, and always look extremely skeptically at future upgrades that I can now expect to screw me over by removing some other feature that I depend on.

Yes, this was bad commercial for EGW. If you replace an old module with
a new one, there must be a migration available, for free.
