Minor change in EGW addressbook template

Hello,

I have EGW 1.8 working fine so far. I want to do a minor change in the
template of the AddressBook module, this is, when I clic on it I see one
column that says “Name, Firstname, Organisation, and Own sorting”.

If I would want to change this text for example, instead of saying
"Name" that is says “Family Name” or “Firstname” by “Given Name” how
could I do? where should I touch in order to not broke the system?

In EPL you could create a custom translation for this phrases. That
would even survive system updates.

In 1.8 you have to use translation tools app and change translations
there (requires write-rights to lang-files!).

Thanks for replying. I just went to Translation Tools and then selected
"edit" in the “AddressBook” line, then searched for “Firstname” but it
doesn’t find the keyword (??), and with “Name” I see there is one line
that says “Field Name” but I don’t know whether this refers to what I
want to change.

Could you help me with this please?

It’s a common translation, so you need to select “EGroupware API”.

I’ve entered into “EGroupware API” section, once there looked for the
terms I want to change (“Name” and “Firstname” basically), and proceed
to change them by “Family Name” and “Given Name” (I didn’t touch
anything else, letting the option “common” in the selection box I have
on the left) and clic on Save.

After that I see this below:

Step #3: Source Language
/usr/share/egroupware/phpgwapi/lang/egw_en.lang Download
Target Language
/usr/share/egroupware/phpgwapi/lang/egw_en.lang Download

Here, i clic on Download button, got the file and replaced the original
one with this one.

Finally, Clic on Step #4 “Update database”.

But no changed occurred at all, even restarting apache.

Any ideas?

Hi,

Ralf: I’ve changed both “Name” to “Family Name” and “First Name” to
"Given Name", but I only see that “First Name” was changed by “Family
Name”, the other one (“Name”) keeps intact even when in the file it
seems to be changed.
