Hi Ken,
Hi all
I had a user report a missing folder with vital files.
They would normally see this folder in ‘Filemanager’; at present they
cannot.
As Admin user, I also cannot see the file in ‘Filemanager’
If I use davs connection -
davs://adminuser@egw.bamfieldmsc.com/webdav.php/home/
I can see the missing files and folders, but cannot copy or open them.
I get a ‘permission denied’ error
How can I fix this permissions problem and recover the files?
Permissions can be set in Filemanager app by becoming root/super user
with users defined as able to come root in setup >> configuration.
Maybe you analysis is wrong with the permissions, first step should be
to run a filesystem check for EGroupwares virtual file system: Admin >>
Applications >> Filemanager >> Check filesystem.
First run only checks for errors. If it finds some, it offers to correct
them. Filesystem check can take a couple of minutes, so be patient.
I have backups, but because I foolishly chose to allow the files to be
managed through MySQL, rather than the host file system, I feel
recovery from backup will be a real bother.
Hmm, don’t understand the above: did you store file contents in database
instead of filesystem? That should make no difference.
Ralf
Thanks in advance
Ken
