''mount'' external (CIFS/smbfs) filesystem in filemanager

Considering that some FLOSS ‘‘cloud’’ software start to do that, creting a
PHP class that talk directly to ‘smbclient’, there’s some way to '‘mount’'
external CIFS/smbfs filesystem in filemanager, possibly using the same user
credential (eg, user ‘bob’ login with password ‘alice’ in egroupware, and
found ther home drive mounted somewhere in file manager)?

I’m speaking about current community edition, but also a perpective answer
could be useful.

EGroupware’s VFS (virtual file system) can mount arbitrary PHP
stream-wrappers via filemanager/cli.php mount command.

I tried a stream-wrapper talking to smbclient before, but performance
was quite bad.

Therefore we created a smbclient PHP extension for our EPL customers
which makes libsmbclient from Samba accessible as stream-wrapper and
therefore mountable in EGroupware.

Many EPL customers use it (together with authentication agains or
accounts from Active Directory) to make Windows home-directories
available in EGroupware. EGroupware can use credentials for currently
logged in user to access shares on a Samba or Windows fileserver.

I’m speaking about current community edition, but also a perpective answer
could be useful.

and docs, but really i’ve not understood how cli.php works…

Sorry Marco, not sure I understand your question:

filemanager/cli.php gives a usage, if called without parameters.

It only writes a mount-table used by EGroupware. It does nothing on it’s
own as far as (u)mount command is concerned.

Examples of how a mount command look like depend a bit on used / mounted
stream-wrapper and it’s supported parameters.

We use a couple of non-standard extensions / extra methods, you can find
in source of our vfs stream-wrapper (that’s the one reading mount-table
manipulated via filemanager/cli.php (u)mount command):

Look at the methods touch, chown, chgrp, chmod, readlink, symlink,
mime_content_type.

Thought they are all optional and our smb stream-wrapper supports none

AFAI’ve understood php.cli is a way to ‘‘mount’’ on real filesystem and egw
VFS, or at least access that via a CLI interface.

I need the converse! I feel very dumb, but really i don’t understand. I try
with an example… sorry…

Suppose you have an egw instance, using an LDAP account backend '‘shared’'
with a samba3 domain.
In that domain there’s an user (gaio) and a share (\RITA\Users).

How can i use that stuff as i can ‘‘mount’’ \RITA\Users share in egw file
manager as user gaio?

With our EPL smb steam-wrapper you do it as follows:

filemanager/cli.php mount ‘smb://$user:$pass@host/share’ /mountpoint

It will use username and password from currently loged in user and
mounts \host\share to /mountpoint in EGroupware VFS.

($user, $pass, and $home are understood and replaced by our VFS class.)
