Nas QNAP and Docker installation

I use egroupware CE until 2008 and now I want to change my server I buoght a QNAP nas because I red that I can install software from docker hub.
I install the app on nas and I install egroupware with docker-compose.yml file that I find here

but there an error installation with collabora but also when I start egroupware it doesn’t start because there an error with database, it’s not able to connect with mysql and failled the installation.
How can I solve the problem?

If you need developer version of Egw, you can find info how to install that from https://github.com/EGroupware/egroupware/tree/master/doc/docker/development

Otherwise install via package manager, info how to do that is found from https://github.com/EGroupware/egroupware/wiki/20.1--Installation-using-egroupware-docker-RPM-DEB-package

With QNAP I can’t use apt command to install, and if I use the installation tool of QNAP I have the same problem. In this case I also see that it doesn’t install all the software need for egroupware like nginx that I install separated from egroupware

No it doesn’t help me.

It’s the first installation on my NAS and I don’t know where i can write the password for DB root

My Qnap has a SQL server MariaDB inside and I create a password for root and I use the same password in docker-compose.yml but nothing change.

If I use the egroupware docker

that i can see in my Qnap why doesn’t it work?

Hi Luca.

I can only guess because I don’t know what exactly you have done so far.
It is not enough to “install” the EGroupware container. EGroupware is installed via docker-compose. This means that several containers are downloaded and configured.

That’s why the link to the documentation once again:

You should be able to run EGroupware on a QNAP NAS. However, we do not have a QNAP NAS ourselves and the standard installation provides for an installation on a system with an operating system.

Perhaps @svenp1 can help you further.
However, you must describe exactly what you have done. Without that it will be difficult.

Hi, yes you can use the Webgui to install egroupware.
Log into the Qnap Linux shell via ssh.
I copied the yml file in the folder /share/container/egroupware.
Then you can run the docker-compose commands

I would like to summarise the installation in the wiki for QNAP. I need your help for this.

@svenp: Could you write it down in detail? Gladly here in this topic. I would then add it to the wiki.

Hi, the docker-compose commands are

docker-compose pull
docker-compose up -d

And i see i have changed in the yml file the device
The data are then in the folders under the yml files

example:

yes log into your qnap with putty

and now
docker-compose pull
docker-compose up -d

How can I edit docker-compose.yml,? Can I use vi editor?
When I open the docker-compose I copy this code https://github.com/EGroupware/egroupware/blob/master/doc/docker/docker-compose.yml, is it right?

Whem you say “Edit the docker-compose.yml file and edit all device path” what does it mean? It’s a new installation so I only unmark the line with ‘device: $PWD/data’?

I see than in QNAP there’s a server web and a server SQL, I must disable it or not?

I see that in this page https://github.com/EGroupware/egroupware/wiki/Docker-compose-installation it’s appear “Synology installation” there’s nothing like this for QNAP?

Can I ask you a favor?
Can you send me a copy of your file docker-compose.yml for a new installation on QNAP, I’m not able to edit it for myself.
I create the folder, try to modify the docker-compose.yml but I have a mistake after “docker-compose up -d”, I think I don’t edit file in correct mode.

all good up to “docker-compose up -d” when the system stop with this error

Where am I wrong?

I also noticed that the container directory was not present and created it myself
