New problem with Invoice Line/Account association

When adding lines to an invoice (manually or from another application), the account field at the far right of the line no longer offers a list of autocomplete options to choose from. If you manually type a GL account, you can save the invoice, but the fields appear blank after the save, and any subsequent resaves will fail unless you again enter the GL accounts by hand.

This does not seem to be the case for tax lines, which are working as expected.

I can’t seem to duplicate this.
I entered an invoice, it gave me autocomplete options.
I saved it yesterday, opened it today and all the GL accounts are
still there.
Strange that tax lines would work and the others wouldn’t.

Which browser are you using?

Any javascript errors?
Could you try putting the cursor into the Account box, and pressing
the down arrow, then go for coffee and see if it eventually comes back
with something?

AR -> Invoices -> New, client dropdown does not populate

Can you try some other places for me please:

General Ledger -> Journal Entry, see if the Account # will drop down
for you there

It does return an error, but a different one, and with a complaint about
whitespace in the XML See below. (This whitespace statement may have been
part of Safari’s error message for the account selector, but some of the
message was lost at the bottom of the screen)

Yes, it looks like whitespace is the problem, but I’m not sure where
it’s coming from.
The Journal Entry working indicates that it’s probably not in the
widget itself, or the GL Accounts, or the AJAX framework, but the
Invoice didn’t work…

When you generated your sample invoice yesterday, did the drop down
work, or did you type in the client number?

If I understand correctly, it worked. I simply went to the link tab
of my address book entry and searched for Joe. It returned, and I
linked, Joe Blow.

I’m at a loss for ideas.
Something somewhere is adding some whitespace to the output, but I
can’t figure out where.
I can’t duplicate the issue.

It’s not in the AJAX system or database, because your addressbook link
worked.
I can’t find anything in the AJAX search widget itself, although it’s
my best suspect.
I can’t find anything along the way to the data source for the gl
account list.
I can’t find anything along the way to the data source for the client
list.

Anyone else have additional information?
Are your AJAX select boxes working? Try several different types
(supplier, client, stock item, GL account).
Are you using SVN or RC_#?

A couple of shots in the dark.

Could this be related to file permission? Do you have a recommended
owner/group and mode for Perp files? Could a mismatch with egw files cause a
problem
Could it be related to db settings, such as charset?

I doubt it. Everything should be web readable (www or www-data,
depending on your system). Nobody else needs any file access,
although it is handy if you at least give your or your developers’
group read permission.
Missing file permissions tend to generate big fatal errors.

It could be, but I can’t think of how. What is your db charset, and
eGW charset?

A couple of shots in the dark.

You can try firebug:
http://getfirebug.com/releases/index.html
It will let you see the full, raw XML response in the Console tab, and
help me try and figure out what’s happening. I need to know if the <?
xml starts at the very beginning of the response, or if there is
whitespace at the front.
