Hi developers! Hi Ralf!

Hans-Jürgen already supplied patches and bug-fixes in many areas of the
project - eg. the calendar module for sitemgr, just to name one.
Most of his patches still sit in our tracker, which is NOT his fault but
a lack of resources from the people they are assigned to - mainly me
Klaus and I had a chat with him beginning of December in the Stylite
offices in Kirchheimbolanden, as he lives relatively close by. I think
he would be a valuable addition to the project and therefore I’d like to
add him to the project, if there are no objections.
@Hans-Jürgen: please reply with a short introduction of yourself, so
everyone gets a chance to know you a little better.
I have started using eGroupware when it was still named after the
language behind it. That time, I had been looking for a groupware
solution to keep addresses and events available in the internet with the
possibility to synchronize and to interface with other open source tools
(e.g. Lightning) as well as standard PDAs. The synchronization solution
in my opinion is a core feature of eGroupware and needs careful
maintenance. Thanks to all involved in that.
Nowadays, I am working in a company which is providing operating systems
and services around embedded devices with two main focuses, from wich one
is embedded Linux and another is specialized on a security and safety
certifiable virtualization embedded operating system (OK, a long worm of
words, but that summarizes it).
With regard to eGroupware, I see a great chance to establish more
instances of eGroupware in a club community or church environment. Many
club web pages suffer a lack of fresh information, regarding schedules
and news. This can well be achieved with the existing news module and the
calendar integration into sitemgr. Other core features of eGroupware
match very well with the needs in clubs, like the addressbook with
group-wise ACL, the file manager with group folders and the resource
planning.
With a focus on these features, I want to help making eGroupware an even
better software. Still, I want to honor the use of eGroupware in the
commercial environment because this is granting that eGroupware will keep
the professional touch, required for long-term project success.
I currently do not foresee a special field of involvement in eGroupware,
but would like to improve this and that. This involves that I plan to get
in contact with the module’s maintainers before modifying eGroupware
source code in the different modules.
I will certainly need your advise regarding special PHP approaches and
keeping it all together. I am looking forward to join the team of
developers and supporters - if you allow.
Have a nice Christmas time and a good start into the next year!
Hans-Jürgen
