Hi,
1.9.016 update can hardly be the issue, it change egw_access_log table,
thought you might have run more update, then just 1.9.014 --> 1.9.016.
One previous change hides personal categories, maybe your categories are
not global and therefore no longer visible to other users, but the one
who created it.

Hello,
Global categories have gone away (Calendar, losts articles with categories
in KB, AddressBook…) since upgrade to 1.9.016 version.
Categories are in SQL database in table egw_categories but do not appear in
index.php?menuaction=admin.admin_categories.index&appname=phpgw
Something goes wrong with table upgrade ?
