correct :hover is a standard, but IE classifies it as UNKNOWN for td’s. IE7
could be seen as a critical update but unfortunatly some companies will not
support until all testing is complete. BMW (as an example) has a lot of
internal systems which depend on a specific version of IE and the IT/IS
dept have explicitly requested IE7 not be installed at this time. So I make
the assumption that there are other companies doing the same. hmm, i think
i answered my own question. ive since made the changes to utilize
onmouseover instead for the moment so that the template works the way id
like it to in the broadest range of browsers possible.
Ill be commiting a number of changes/fixes soon. theres quite a number of
them, some subtle and some quite obvious. all in all, i think it will be an
improvement. Id send a screenshot, but i should get the updates commited
this week.
Thanks for all the input, makes decision steering easier

from a corporate standpoint, IE7 may not be endorsed just yet, I
know its not for my companies, but even so, its purley a cosmetic
thing.
thougts? objections?
Personally, I’m all for “Go with the standards, it’s IE that’s
broken”. :hover is in the specifications, is it not?
Our windows guy says IE7 is a critical update, so if people are doing
their updates, they should all have IE7 in short order (if they’re
not doing their windows updates, they may have more problems).
