Pear Install Questions

I am relatively new to PHP, and I am trying to get eGroupware running on my local development PC. “Checking the eGroupware Installation” tells me that Pear is not installed, and it is this on which I need advice.

My set up is WinXP-SP3, Apache 2.2.9, PHP 5.2.6

My PHP files are in C:\PHP\php-5.2.6-Win32.
This folder also includes a PEAR subfolder, probably as a result of me trying to get pear or eGroupware installed. I have not used pear until now.

My eGroupware web application is in C:\www\egroupware.dev, with a folder egroupware under this, and a folder egw-pear under this.

I have downloaded egw-pear, and now my questions are:-

“Which path do I expand egw-pear to ?” and

“Do I need to install the standard Pear first ?” and

“Do I need to / how do I install egw-pear ?”

I’ve looked through the lots of forums, but I haven’t found anything as specific (basic ?) as the questions I am asking.

Should I change the file structure under C:\www\egroupware.dev ?

There’s a lot of docu about the different was of installing PEAR:

eGroupware packages (that include egw-pear) have to be installed inside
the main egroupware folder. If that’s C:\www\egroupware.dev in your
case, you should have after the install of egw-pear a direct subfolder
there: C:\www\egroupware.dev\egw-pear

Sorry Ralf,

It’s still not very clear to me.

I think I have a standard PEAR installation as part of my PHP installation.

I also now have C:\www\egroupware.dev\egw-pear

The egroupware installer tells me that everything is OK, until it gets to the PEAR modules.

How do I fix this, please.
