Post-setup questions

I’ve installed and configured eGroupWare Community Version on Gentoo
and I have a few questions. I’d greatly appreciate it if anyone could
help me out with any of these.

1. Where can I find the chat application?

2. How can I remove displayed applications from the admin’s account?

3. I’d like to access egroupware from both /egroupware and
   /extra-folder/egroupware via an alias in apache. Is this possible on
   eGroupWare’s end?

4. setup/config.php asks for “User for SMTP-authentication” and
   "Password for SMTP-authentication". Can I have each user authenticate
   for SMTP with their own username and password?

5. setup/check_install.php stops after printing “Checking
   PEAR::Net_Sieve is installed: 999.egw-pear”. There is no closing body
   tag or closing html tag on the page. Can I fix this?

6. I’m using mysql and I left the default port 3306 in header.inc.php,
   but I have skip-networking in my.cnf which I thought meant my database
   could only be connected to via UNIX sockets?

7. Should /var/lib/egroupware and directories beneath be apache:apache
   drwxr-xr-x?

8. I changed “mbstring.func_overload = 0” to 7 in
   apache2-php5.4/php.ini, but it prevented squirrelmail from
   functioning. Should I be OK without that change?

9. How can I make eGroupWare look nice and clean like the screenshots here:

Hi.

1. it is an extra application for egw, so you have to install it
   separate from egw.
   (http://sourceforge.net/projects/egroupware/files/eGroupware-1.8/eGroupware-1.8.004.20130831/)
   Then, go to setup and install them there.

2. you cant. Create a second admin user, ther you can enable the
   different applications, but don’t forgot to enable the admin application

3. i don’t think so, because you have to set the path in setup. Maybe,
   you can use apache mod_proxy, but i don’t know

4. yes you can, when you finished the setup. What you typed in there,
   its the default Mail account, you can change it later in admin-menue

5. i think so, because apache have to read this files (only read). You
   need rw on the directoriesyou set in setup (tmp, files, backup)

7. egw looks like there, what is different to your installation?
