Problem with Felamimail - Delete Messages

Hello,

I’ve discovered a problem in Felamimail. When i want to delete messages
from the last page of a folder containing a lot of messages, The messages
are transfered to the trash but the page does not refresh and it takes all
the ressources of the server.
I’ve tried to delete all the messages except the last one and it worked
fine.
I’m running the 1.4.004 release of EgroupWare and i’ve tested it on the
release 1.6.002 with the same result.

Please can you help me to solve this problem.

That is however a known Problem, there is some improvement to this in 1.6
and trunk, but
there are open issues, admittingly.

Hi I have the exact same error in egroupware 1.8

How can I solve this? I realize is a common error, but it keeps happening and ppl here are starting to get angry at me lol

I think it is an IMAP limitation. The more messages on the server the more resourses it takes to read and sort through them. One small improvement woul be to increase the time for an update. I think there is a variable in admin or prefs for that.

Alternativly, they have to keep thier inbox clean. Often i create an unsorted folder and move everything. i find that improves performance as well as the server keeps quiering the inbox only.

Well… tks for the answer(i was a lot faster than I thought) but I don’t think that’s the issue here… i’m trying on my own “inbox” and It has only 5 text emails there… What happens is that:

in egroupware 1.6 - I select the message I want to delete, click on the “x” button right on the top of the “inbox menu” and the message get marked (with a slash over it) but never goes away… eer saw that?

And in egroupware 1.8 - nothing happens to the marked message after I press the “x” button

I’m trying to find this option you mentioned… actually can’t find it at the admin menu ^^

GOT IT

Go to Preferences -> the third option will be “eMail” click Preferences, find “When deleting messages” and select “move to trash”

Working fine now… Only got 1 problem now: The access is VERY VERY slow

Trunk or 1.8? (sorry I missed that one with the earlier discussions)
For Trunk it may be browser related, as trunks grid system is heavily based on client side javascript execution.
If the browser is fast and optimized for that, it should be fast, if not its slow.
1.8 is known to be faster regarding eMail access then trunk, even if you have a fast browser.

Yeah, I got the error fixed for 1.6, but theere’s a different one on 1.8… nothing happens to the messages I mark to be deleted and click thhe “x” button… This is starting to get annoying… wel…

can someone tell me where can i get the logs for every attempt to conect and access? I think this kinda stuff would help me solve this… is it all togheter with apache, is there a place where it keeps the logs, is it in the database?

I really appreciate the help so far

Do you have a trash folder configured?
If no trash folder is set up in preferences, there will be no action, even if you opt for move to trash on delete.

Well, tks for the anwer…

What do you mean by configured trash?

I mean… There’s a trash option in the preferences… and, if I select the message and click on the trash (no the little “x” button), the emails are moved to trash… BUT, I can’t make the little “x” button to work so I get a hard time to make the users delete emails and clean their trash paste…

Is there another config I have to do to configure the trash??? I’m so sorry to bother you guys, but I really need help with this

the system needs to know which folder is considered trash.
we do not try any autodetection here.
So you have to tell the system.

If it is an email account introduced to felamimail via Manage email accounts and identities, then edit the account in question, probably the one marked with (default), klick on Folder settings, select / assign the folders trash, sent, draft and template from the drop-down select boxes.

If you do not know what I am talking about, you may have an emailadmin defined profile for your email access.
Then go to felamimail preferences scroll down, search and find the prefs for folders trash, sent, draft and template and then set them from the drop-down select boxes.
If you do not find those, they may be forced, so change to Forced preferences tab (you need to have egroupware admin rights to do that) and have a look there.
