you did not write which eGW version you use. Die you tried the newest one?
There a test-script in FMail which helps to diagnose these kind of
problems: felamimail/testimapserver.php
You have to (temporärily) put your credentials in that file and call it.
Beside that, there’s always the option to call the professional support
(www.stylite.de) and get it fixed for you.

I have tried both a SSL-encrypted connection, now an unencrypted
connection (they are on the same box).
I found only one related thing on Google, and that was an old patch.
Even though Dovecot 1.0.15 is old, it is not that old, so this patch
must certainly be in. tuxick on the #egroupware IRC channel suggested I
move the dovecot indexes, and I did that for all folders of this user,
but that had no effect.
Apparently, Dovecot is very strict about standards compliance, so
someone (don’t remember who) on IRC felt that it was most likely
Felamimail, so therefore, I ask here if anybody can help me debug this
further?
