Programatically add events into calendar

Hello,

I’m developing some sort of a connector between egroupware and my own application.
I am getting the events out from egroupware, as well as I am able to add new events into egroupware using a PHP script which inserts into mySQL database, but the problem is that events inserted or updated from my PHP script are not syncing with my mobiles over SyncML. Could someone point me to a correct way on how to add and update events through 3rd party scripts?

You may use ics files and the egroupware provided functionality.
that would be the correct way.
If you are insisting on the hard way, you have to maintain the tables, that
are used by the sync to consider
datasets to be new or changed or deleted. egw_api_content_history is the
table responsible for that, as far as I know.
But if you do that, without using egroupware function calls, you may end up
messing things up more than you
expect.
So the advise would be: Use egroupware api/calendar function calls to
implement your import.

Thank you for your reply. You are right that using the API would be a smarter move, but I really didn’t have much time to have a looksy into it, so I’ve just wanted to do it the old fashion way, but I think I will go over to the API and re-do my work. And I’m sure more questions will arise.

This is exactly what I want to do too! We have a CRM which should at least be able to export appointments to eGroupware- It doesn’t necessarily have to go the other way too.

Is there any documentation to help get started? I was looking through the Developer Docs in the Wiki but didn’t find anything calendar related.

Perhaps such an import script exists already, if I had the appointments in ICS format and placed them somewhere on the server?

Hi!

You could also use the CSV import of events. This is available in the web
frontend, but I assume that it should be easy to write a commandline
wrapper around that functionality (if it is not already available somewhere).
