Hi there,
the new notifications app hasn’t come so far to notify about new mails,
though it would be possible with some more devel work, sorry! Maybe the
old notification-window app ist still able to do that.
In 1.2 we modified the notification window to be like the home display of
mail (with all folders, and to notify of new mail on all folders (because
the original notify window only notify new mail in Inbox), but we tried to
port this modification to 1.4 with no success. (I don’t know why it never
comes up)
I really don’t know how works the new notifications application (which is
the code that periodically look for events, or how to fire up the popup
window), but the logic for scan folders and detect new or unread mails is
already in the home display of mail. Perhaps is not very difficult to use
this code to fire the popup window with a link to the folders containing new
mail.
The new notifications app is just the framework to deliver a message on
the best path to the user (look if user is online => popup, user is not
online => mail, sms …). This is configureable by the user, he defines
a so-called “notification-chain”.
For mail notifications there has to be a process periodically looking
for new mails (atm not part of notifications).
This process has to trigger notifications afterwards to notify about new
mails. The notifications app therefore has to be modified to
automatically strip out notifiying by mail(because notifying about mails
by mail does not make sense).
That would be a start …
If you can give me a short guide for where to look, I could try it. (or will
be best if you could take a look , as my php and javascript level is
very green)
Many Thanks
