RC client update delete configuration?

I test the update of 2.17 to 3.04 of the RC client.
On my linux machine even on the windows pc was the config vanished.

I’ve to reenter the server URL and increedents.

Is this an normal behaviour? Did’ve anybody the same?
I want to deploy the updates over our softwre deployment regulary. But so it is an show stopper,…

I wonder where an Electron App stores the configuration data.

After I reconised that the configured jitsi server is only responding an white windows I switch back to the 2.17.

Why do you want to install and use the desktop client at all?

You can also address RC directly in your web browser:
https://sub.domain.de/rocketchat

So you could put a link on the desktop/start bar.
Or with Chrome/Chromium/Iridium/… to create a desktop link.

So the RC from the server would always be used. Always suitable, no software distribution, works on every desktop OS

Or do you want to use several RC servers?

I diddn’t expected problems like this. And you know the enduser, they often prefere an fat client.

Is the behavior of Desktop notifications similar? And I suppose the desktop client is undepend of the used browser? Even when you use jitsi sessions, there is no problem with jitsi<->firefox,…

2.17 to 3.04 of the RC client.

Since 3.0.0 there is also an msi installation file, up to that point only exe.
What did you use for the update?
Does it make a difference?

An update 3.0.4 => 3.0.5 on my Linux Mint keeps the (server) settings.

I use first the exe (cause my OPSI Script is written for the exe), but yes I see the msi.

But I not tried it with 2.17 - 3.04 with the msi.

3.0.4 --> 3.05 : I will test it to. And I trie to use RC directly in the browser, it is an kind of habit.

Ein problem mit der msi:
Die Ersetzt nicht die 2.17er sondern installiert sich dazu. Sowohl im Benutzerkontext wie auch als angemeldeter Administrator. Die exe fragt mich, ob ich für alle Nutzer installieren möchte.

Aber im Benutzerkontext hat sie tatsächlich die Daten übernommen.

Noch eine Frage: wenn ich versuche Rocketchat als Chromium App zu verknüpfen wird die /rocketchat Erweiterung aus der URL entfernt. Bei guacamole funktioniert es ja, wie Du beschrieben hast.
