This (as posted by O.M.Gomez) and the differing my-sqluser as posted by
Thomas Koch does
the trick for me. Trying to use the same user creates the problem as posted
by
ringer - as far as I experienced it.

Hello I have a small server with Debian php and apache
and have a stable version of egroupware 1.2.104
that we have incorporated into our companys new intranet
that i am quite happy with.
but i saw the version 1.3.013 of egroupware and got it off your
tree-snapshot.
I am really likeing your ldap login feature (which i still have to
impliment) which will make egroupware a whole lot more useable and
intranet
freindly.
and the add your own picture 2 the contacts (something that i was
actually
starting to try build in myself)
make 1.3.013 the clear perfect system.
Make it easy: in the 1.3, just delete the header.inc.php, so you’ll be
prompted for the data in /setup. Doing all steps manually can lead to
forget
something and mess your existing installation.
